Notes

Lenore Eve Rossetti Long ("Lyn") was born in Carlinville, IL on June 6, 1940 to John Rossetti and Helen Chulick Rossetti. For a while Lyn's family lived in the city of Benld, IL, where Lyn's mother's home parish, Holy Dormition, was located. Lyn was baptized at the Holy Dormition Church, which many of the Chulick relatives attended. Lyn's family later moved to Carlinville, and she graduated Carlinville High School in 1958, where she had excelled academically and had already begun to display her musical talents.

Lyn continued to be an enthusiastic and successful student through her years at the University of Illinois, where she majored in music education with a minor in physical education. She was a member of the Women's Glee Club and Mu Phi Epsilon professional music fraternity for women. Lyn was selected to become a member of these scholastic honor societies: Alpha Chron (sophomore), Torch (junior year), and Shorter Board (senior). Lyn also held leadership positions in the Women's Group System, the governing body for all independent women students at the University of Illinois. She obtained a BA from the University of Illinois in 1962.

Lyn married William Long in the early 1960s, and they were married for 52 years before William's passing in 2014.

Lyn worked as a music teacher for many years at several schools in the Lynchburg, VA area, including Seven Hills, Robert S. Payne Elementary, and Dearington Elementary.

Lyn was active in the arts in her community beyond the educational setting. She directed the choir at St. Thomas More Church, where she was a parishioner. Lyn performed regularly with local theater groups, and volunteered with the Lynchburg Aquatic League, Special Olympics and as a handbell choir director.

Lyn passed away on August 18, 2026 at 86 years of age. She was survived by her three sons, Brian (with wife Kelly), Keven, and Darren, and two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Morelli. Her memorial service was held on August 29, 2026 at Tharp Funeral Home in Lynchburg, VA.
