Peter Spudich was born in West Frankfort, IL to Barbara Paur Spudich and John M. Spudich on Friday, November 27, 1914 (the day after Thanksgiving). He grew up in Sawyerville, IL in a large family with eight siblings.
Peter's siblings included his four brothers Steve, John, Joe, and "Mitch" (Michael) Spudich, and his four sisters Barbara Malnar, Mary Rhye, Ann Bence, and Kay (Catherine) Skradski.
Peter married Mary Wasylenko of Benld on Sunday, October 17, 1937 at the Holy Dormition Church in Benld, and soon thereafter they moved to the St. Louis area and established their home there where they raised their children. Peter worked for many years as a machinist with Anheuser-Busch Inc. of St. Louis until his retirement.
Peter and Mary Spudich were the parents of five children: Mary Kathryn Schwaninger, Eugenia Lowry, John Peter Spudich, Peter John Spudich, Jr., and Barbara Jean Haywood.
Peter died Wednesday, July 15, 1987 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was survived by his wife, Mary, and all of his children and 13 grandchildren. He also was survived by two of his brothers, Steve of Warren, MI, and Joe of Freeport, IL, and three sisters, Mary Rhye of Omaha, NE, Kay Skradski of Wichita, KS, and Ann Bence of Bella Vista, AR.
Funeral services for Peter were held on Saturday, July 18, 1987 at the Holy Dormition Church in Benld with the Reverend Paul Waters officiating. Burial followed at the Holy Dormition Cemetery in Benld.
