Altar Consecration To Be Held At Holy Dormition
On Sunday, October 23, 1994, His Excellency Bishop Paul will consecrate a new Main Altar at the Holy Dormition Of The Theotokos Temple. In conjunction with this celebration will be the celebration of the "200th Anniversary of Orthodox Catholicism in North America." The present Altar was built as a temporary Altar and was not constructed properly and was never consecrated.
Bishop Paul will arrive on Saturday, October 22. Great Vespers wll be celebrated that evening at 6 PM, followed by a reception in the Temple hall. On Sunday morning at 9:30 AM, his Excellency will be greeted upon entering the Holy Temple with a bouquet of flowers by Mrs. Josephine Chulick. The traditional offering of Bread and Salt will be given to the Bishop by Mr. Stephen Makuh. The Very Reverend Archpriest Father Paul Waters, pastor, will then greet his Excellency and present him with the Hand Cross to venerate. After the greeting and vesting, Bishop Paul will consecrate the Altar. Holy Relics are being brought from Russia to be placed into the Altar. The Hierarchical Liturgy follows. At 12:30 PM a banquet will be held in honor of these celebrations, and entertainment will follow.
